Approximately 250 participants braved the chilly waters of the New River at the 2017 New River Polar Plunge Fest in Radford Feb. 18. Plungers raised $46,500 for Special Olympics Virginia.
Special thanks to the many groups who helped us chill out: 150 Greek Life Students from Radford University and Virginia Tech got cold feet for a cool cause; Phi Sigma Kappa from Virginia Tech had more than 50 brothers plunge, plus they raised over $9,000 and claimed the top team fundraising prize and Sara Perks raised more than $4,000 and claimed the top individual fundraising prize and some cool Polar Plunge swag
This year’s event was presented by Radford University, Radford City Police Department and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Virginia.
