Rev. Ronald Edward Hodge, age 73, of Blacksburg went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at his home. He was born in Rich Creek on March 2, 1944 to the late Harry Preston and Parthelia (Polly) Whitlow Hodge.
He was a pastor for almost 50 years, having served with the Church of God Cleveland and the Wesleyan Church. Ron became a member of Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church after retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlene Gaines Hodge; daughter, Ronda Hodge Pritchard; son and daughter-in-law, Preston Robert and Amy Hodge; adopted daughter, Rhonda Lowry; grandchildren, Dane and wife, Jessica, Jacob and Derrek; adopted grandchildren, Tasha and Johnny; nine great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Gene and Dottie Hodge; special aunt, Dorothy Hodge; and the rest of the Hodge and Gaines family.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the First Wesleyan Church with Rev. John Hopkins, Rev. Charles Conley and Rev. Bob Sutherland officiating. A private burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 1300 Progress St., NW, Blacksburg, VA 24060. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr SW Blacksburg, VA.
