Joyce Perdue Hypes, 73, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Montgomery County Jan. 29, 1944 to the late Charles James “Grant” and Ola Howery Perdue, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Francis Hypes “Bush Rod”; her sister, Josephine Taylor, and her brothers, Irvin Perdue, Jimmy Perdue, and Alvie Perdue.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Holmes, Melissa “Missy” Hypes (Dashaun Grandy), both of Blacksburg; her son, Ronald W. Hypes, Blacksburg; five grandchildren, Lauren Hypes, Herbie Hypes (Mari-Beth), Tyler Holmes, Ashleea Hypes, and Oleighia Hypes; five great grandchildren, Sabria Coluni, Amyha Smith, Akira Walton, Omar Hypes, Levi Hypes and one on the way; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Eddie Akers, Blacksburg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Lee and Wanda Hypes, Pembroke; sister-in-law; Martha Bolt, Arizona, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to Dr. Keith Madsen, Sen and staff at Blacksburg Pharmacy; Carilion Hospice; and Joyce’s caregivers Virginia (Ginny) Stoner, Mary Henderson.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynne Alley-Grant officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Society, The family received friends Tuesday prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
