Thomas Linwood Haynes, Sr, 82, of Christiansburg, went to live forever in Heaven on Wednesday.
He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. Together with his wife, they owned and operated Haynes Park for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth Hurt Haynes, wife, Ruth Ann Mills Haynes, and twin brother, John Haynes.
Survivors include his daughters and their husbands, Helen and Clifton Pack of Fairlawn and Mary and Rob Gresty of Christiansburg; son and his wife, Thomas L. and Julie Haynes Jr. of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Mitchell and Brian, Susie and Brooke, and Allison and Daniel; great granddaughter, Morgan; brothers, David Haynes of Christiansburg, Paul and wife Betty Haynes of Christiansburg and Mark Haynes of Floyd; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Gethsemane Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg where VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Montgomery County, PO Box 28, Blacksburg, VA 24063.
