Floyd Pride Parade, today
Gather for the Floyd Pride Parade in celebration of pride month today from 3-4 p.m. The beginning of the parade will meet at the Floyd Post Office at 3 p.m. Make sure to stop by the Farmers’ Market Pavilion afterwards for a dance.
An evening with George Gershwin, today
Come out to Floyd Center for the Arts for an evening with George Gershwin today at 7:30 p.m. in support of Floyd PFLAG. The evening will feature performances from Kari Paludan and Wes McCune. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Huckleberry Trail reopens
The trail has reopened. Portions of the trail are still drying, and Town crews are on site to assist pedestrians and cyclists through these areas.

National forest appreciation day, today
Today from 10- 12 p.m. at Pandapas Pond (Jefferson National Forest) help celebrate the first ever National Forest Appreciation Day. Come and meet Forest Service Rangers (get a photo for Facebook); learn about insects with an entomologist; take a walk with a Native Plant Society member; visit the Pollinator Garden of native plants and talk to the volunteers who keep it going; learn about trails and venture out on a guided hike with Town of Blacksburg staff. Blacksburg Farmers Market, today
Solstice Chef will be at the Blacksburg Farmer’s Market today from 9-11:30 a.m. There will be music from The Hippie Holler Band as well as free tastings of local market fare from an executive chef from the Inn at Virginia Tech.
NAACP event, tomorrow
The June General Body meeting of the Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County NAACP will be held tomorrow, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 500 Stuart St in Christiansburg. The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. All are welcome. (Please note there will be no General Body meeting in July).

The Maranatha Baptist Church will be hosting guest ministers Evang John and Ruby Reed, featuring performances by Dr. J.B. and Shirley Shelton. All are welcome.
Active Adult Day, June 29
Active Adult Day will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, June 29 at the Meadowbrook Community Center. June’s event will feature an ice cream social! Come out for a fun game of bingo and win some neat summer prizes. Ice cream will be provided and everyone is encouraged to bring your favorite topping to share. Blacksburg July 4 Parade Registration
The 31st annual July 4th parade in Blacksburg will set off at 2 p.m. from the Old Blacksburg Middle School, travel along Main Street, and end near the Alumni Mall. This year’s theme is “Let Freedom Ring.”
Parade entries are needed, and can be floats, marchers, antique vehicles, wagons, bicycles, sports teams, businesses, horses, bands, race cars, scouts, etc.
The Mount Tabor Ruritan Club sponsors the parade, and also the movie “Annie,” which will be shown after the parade in The Lyric Theatre on College Avenue. It will be the ‘classic’ version, with sing-a-long subtitles.
The Town of Blacksburg will have music, food, and entertainments near the Recreation Center on Patrick Henry Drive, beginning at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Call Parks & Rec at 540-443-1100 for information on the evening events.
