Construction of a water valve at the end of Kamran Drive will begin this week and is expected to last for about three weeks.
During this time, there may be obstructions at the end of Kamran Drive but access to driveways will not be blocked. Any obstruction will be temporary and full access to and from the end of Kamran Drive will be restored as soon as possible.
Residents who may be affected by the construction have already been notified by mail. The work will not affect water or sewer services. Construction crews will make every effort to minimize the impact of construction on nearby residents.
This work is part of a larger effort to remove two old concrete water tanks from the Town of Christiansburg’s water distribution system. Originally built in the 1920s and 1930’s, the two concrete tanks served as storage tanks for the Town’s earliest water systems and have exceeded their service life.
The tanks will be disconnected from the Town’s distribution system and replaced by two pressure-reducing valves (PRVs), one of which is being installed at the end of Kamran Drive. The other will be installed where the tanks currently stand, at the top of the hill on the end of Warren Street.
