Anyone who has recently driven in downtown Christiansburg, West Main and Depot Streets has noticed the streets have been repaved.
One citizen commented on the new paving, “makes you feel like you’re driving on a cloud.” I don’t know what driving on a cloud is like, but I do know the roads feel and look great.
The repaving project cost around $670,000. Wayne Nelson, Director of Engineering for the Town of Christiansburg, said the town received $443,000 in grant funding for the repaying, so the cost to the Town of Christiansburg was a little over $200,000. He also mentioned the town is working to improve the turn lane at the intersection of Franklin and Independence Streets, near Christiansburg High School.
