The Pulaski Yankees are looking to once again bring home the Esurance Home Field Advantage Award in 2017.
The award is given annually to one team in each of the 14 leagues that comprise Minor League Baseball. The team in each league that fills the largest percentage of its ballpark’s seating capacity receives the award.
The Yankees won the first award last season after leading the Appalachian League in attendance for the second straight season. Calfee Park averaged over 1,800 fans per game last year and drew nearly 58,000 fans total during the 2016 season.
Fans celebrated on June 21st during the Welcome Luncheon sponsored by the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce. Those in attendance were given special foam fingers to commemorate their support in helping the Pulaski Yankees bring home the award.
Winning the 2017 Esurance Home Field Advantage Award is a prime objective of the Pulaski Yankees front office this season. “This award would not be made possible without our dedicated fans. We look to build on our success and bring home the Esurance Homefield Advantage Award again for the 2017 season,” said Yankees General Manager Blair Hoke.
The Yankees averaged over 2,200 fans during their first home stand last week. Fans will have the opportunity to help Pulaski bring home another award this season with 31 home games left to go
The Appalachian League has announced a new league-wide promotional initiative meant to encourage fans to visit various ballparks throughout the league during the 2017 season. The “Map the App” promotion will give fans a chance to win free tickets for games at each Appalachian League ballpark, showcasing why It’s “Fun to Be a Fan of Minor League Baseball.”
The League will host two Map the App Weekends across its 10 teams June 30 thru July 2 and July 7 thru July 9.
Each team will have contests, raffles, or other promotions during their home games on one or both of these weekends, depending on the team’s schedule.
Each team will hold nine contests over the course of the Map the App Weekends, with the prize for each contest being a pair of tickets to a 2017 home game for a different team in the Appalachian League. In total, each team will give away one pair of tickets to a home game for each other team in the League.
Map the App is meant to encourage fans to travel to Appalachian League games outside of their home markets.
