Curtis Glenn Coulson, 80, of Radford, Virginia (formerly of Pearisburg), passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday.
Curtis was born in Hillsville, Virginia on June 25, 1937. He is preceded in death by his parents Curtis Meade Coulson and Ima Davis Coulson, his brother Joe Howard Coulson, and his sisters Ruth Semones and Betty Mae Harris.
Curtis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg for 48 years. He attended Sunnyside Elementary, Hillsville High School, and National Business College in Roanoke. He earned his B.S. Degree from Lynchburg College and his M.S. Degree from the University of Virginia.
Curtis worked in retail and with the National Forest Service before entering the field of education, where he spent most of his career. He worked in Bedford, Prince William, Montgomery, and Giles Counties, serving in various supervisory positions. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Vass Coulson; sons C.G. Coulson and wife Karen, of St. Louis, Missouri; David Coulson and wife Kim, of Radford, Virginia; and six grandchildren: Alex, Keith, Scott, Evan, Tess, and Sam.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday at First United Methodist Church; with the Reverend Brian Burch officiating. Burial will follow at Wilkinson Cemetery in Hillsville, Virginia. The family received friends at First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg prior to the funeral service.
