William B. Galway of (Radford, Va, Galax, VA or Pennington Gap) passed away peacefully on July 1, at the Lee Health and Rehabilitation Center.
William “Bill” was born in Radford, VA on February 14, 1921 and was a lifelong resident of Radford. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 26 years in Radford. He was an avid skeet shooter, hunter, HAMB Radio Operator and an outdoorsman. Bill served the Nation in World War 2 in the US Army Air Corps flying on Gunner Training Missions in AT-6 Aircraft.
He is survived by sister Nancy Miller and husband Michael B Miller of Southington, CT and niece Kay Jessee and husband David Williams of Pennington Gap, VA who graciously cared for Bill during the past few years. He is also survived by sister in law Edith Riggins of Galax, VA and several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of more than 57 years Faye Carpenter Galway, his mother and father Stanley and Mary Galway, sisters Francis Sturdivant, Virginia Harris, Martha Moorhouse Gilley, Robert Galway and Harry Galway.
