Robert (Bob) Lewis Davis, 85, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones by his side on Saturday, July, 8, 2017.
He was born February 22, 1932 to the late Adworn (Ab) and Margaret Dowdy Davis. Bob served as a boatsin mate and deep sea diver in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed at Virginia Tech in the Engineering department in Norris Hall as an instrument maker and machine shop supervisor for 35 years.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved family get togethers, being a Mason, helping friends, spoiling his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by the love of his life, Geneva Tuck Davis of 64 years. Daughters: Mary Sue Lee and husband Lawrence of Cary, N.C. and Cynthia L. Davis of Raleigh, N.C. Three grandchildren: Kimberly Sparks, Melissa Howes and husband Jake, and Robert Jesse Davis. Great grandchildren: Owen and Zoey Howes.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for the special care they provided, also, a special thank you to Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad for their care and assistance numerous times over the past few years.
A memorial was held yesterday at Belmont Christian Church. Graveside service immediately following at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad or Good Samaritan Hospice.
