The former head coach at Graham High School in Bluefield is taking over calling plays at Eastern Montgomery High School this fall. Head Coach Jordan Stewart says Mike Williams takes over as offensive coordinator, which allows him (Stewart) to concentrate on the defensive side of the ball.
“Last year, I was trying to do both. Now, I will work with the defense and he with the offense,” Stewart said.
Williams, who played high school football at Salem High School and then later at Emory and Henry College, was the head coach at Graham from 2010 to 2014, compiling a record of 22-22.
“He is an offensive minded coach so I think he will help us a lot this season,” Stewart said.
Williams also has coaching experience at the University of Richmond and at Fork Union Military Academy.
His best year at Graham was in 2012 when the G-men finished 7-4.
Stewart is entering his fourth year at his alma mater, finishing 1-9 last season. This year, the Mustangs move to the Pioneer District. Stewart has compiled a 4-26 record at the school.
