Joel Edward Weddle, 95, passed away Wednesday at his home in Radford with his family by his side.
He was a WWII U. S. Army veteran and a member of VFW Post #776. He retired from Burlington Industries and also ran a taxi service. He was preceded in death by his wife, True Love Cox Weddle; his parents, Edwin and Mary Weddle; son, Darrell “Smiley” Weddle; grandson, Robert Weddle; and son-in-law, Rudy Marsolek.
Survivors include his daughter, Wanda June Marsolek of Roanoke; daughter-in-law and caretaker, Demita Jo Weddle of Radford; grandchildren, Eddie Gregory, Missy Secrist, Christy Weddle, Kiley Joyal; great grandchildren, Thomas Gregory, Whitney McCloud, Dylan Joyal, Arianna Welch, Ally Weddle, Matt Gregory, Kaitlyn Dunford and Christopher Marsolek; great great grandson, Liam Gregory; sister, Edith Johnson of Baltimore, Md.; brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Bonnie Weddle of Radford; special friends, Rosa Stout, Liz Anderson, James Akers and Gary Harris; and many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Detta Rae Compton, Denise Short and Denise Dellinger and Good Samaritan Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Allison Unroe officiating. Interment will follow in Greasy Creek Cemetery in Willis.
The family will receive friends this evening from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
