The Virginia Tech football program will serve as hosts to its annual Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, August 20 at the Hokies’ Indoor Practice Facility.
The 2017 Fan Appreciation Day starts at 1:30 p.m. for Hokie Kids’ Club members and 1:45 p.m. for the general public. The event is free of charge and open to people of all ages. Parking is also free, which includes Lots 1 (Cassell Coliseum), 2 (Lane Stadium South End zone) and 5 (Chicken Hill). Immediately following the conclusion of the autograph session, Hokie Nation is invited to stick around the Indoor Practice Facility for a special presentation to the best fans in America.
Hokie Kids’ Club members will enter the practice facility through the corner closest to the East stands at Lane Stadium, while the general public will enter through the northernmost corner closest to the Hahn Hurst Basketball Facility. Department officials ask that fans enter on Callaghan-Sheridan Way, which is the road between the Steve Johnson Practice Field and the North end of Lane.
Fans will be allowed to get autographs from all of their favorite players and coaches. All players will be in attendance and grouped at stations according to positions. Head coach Justin Fuente, associate head coach and defensive coordinator Bud Foster, assistant head coach Galen Scott and offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen, along with the entire coaching staff, will also be available to sign autographs at specific coaching stations. Inflatables also will be set up for kids of all ages, weather permitting.
Fans can bring in outside items to be signed, but autograph seekers may have only one item signed at each station. Posters will be provided free of charge to those who wish to get one signed.
No posed photography will be allowed. This restriction allows fans to move through the lines as quickly as possible.
Fans also will be able to walk through and take pictures in the famed Worsham Field tunnel. Fans should utilize Callaghan-Sheridan Way to travel between the Indoor Practice Facility and the Worsham Field tunnel. Please be advised the game field will be open only during the Fan Day event, so please plan one’s time accordingly.
The Virginia Tech Athletics Ticket Office will be on site for fans wishing to learn more about purchasing tickets. Concession stands and the University Bookstore will be on site as well and open at noon outside of the Indoor Practice Facility. An additional bookstore setup will be on the field during the event.
Fan Appreciation Day will end promptly at 3 p.m. The autograph lines will close at approximately 2:30 p.m. Fan Day still will occur in the event of inclement weather.
