The Pulaski Yankees delivered 260 bags of groceries to a local food pantry this afternoon to help fight hunger in the community.
Players and staff helped hand out the bags to the Pulaski Daily Bread – a non-profit organization that feeds approximately 200 people in Pulaski each day.
Yankees fans helped raise $1,300 last Saturday during Calfee Gives night. Food City helped with the initiative by offering fans the chance to purchase a $5 bag of groceries to go to the Pulaski Daily Bread.
“As part of Minor League Baseball’s CommUNITY initiative, we were very happy to partner with OneMain Financial during this successful community event here at Calfee Park. It goes to show how close knit the Pulaski community is and the willingness of our fans to have a positive impact in their community,” said Pulaski Yankees GM Blair Hoke.
One of the many highlights of the event included a $1,000 giveaway to a lucky fan who donated to the cause. The fan was drawn at random and given a check at the end of the night thanks to OneMain Financial who sponsored the event.
