Christiansburg High has a new athletic director, and it’s a familiar face in former football coach Tim Cromer.
Principal Tony Deibler is excited for Cromer to take the helm of Christiansburg athletics. “His years of experience as a coach of multiple sports, as an educator, and as a leader in the Christiansburg community make him a perfect fit for the position. Tim displays a true passion for the Blue Demons and is whole heartedly invested in the well-being, safety, and success of the student athletes and teams at Christiansburg High School,” he said.
Cromer is a native of Christiansburg, graduating from CHS in 1987, and earning his Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education from Radford University. He started his teaching career at Citrus High School (Inverness, Florida) in 1991 and has since taught at Middleburg High School, Radford High School, and for the past fifteen years at Christiansburg High School.
While completing his teaching responsibilities over the past 26 years, Cromer has gained a plethora of coaching experience with multiple sports including football, indoor and outdoor track, girls’ basketball, baseball, golf and weight lifting.
Cromer’s main focus has been football, in which he has 30 years of experience with 20 of those being a head coach. During his coaching tenure, Cromer has garnered multiple honors, but his highlight was leading the Blue Demons to the 2011 AA Division 4 State Championships where they finished as state runner-up.
He stepped down as football coach this past year.
“I am very excited and humbled to accept the position of Athletic Director at Christiansburg High School. By mentoring our coaching staff and investing in the lives of our student athletes, while partnering with our community, we will continue to build an athletic program that the town of Christiansburg can be proud of. I am proud to be a Blue Demon. Go Big Blue!” said Cromer.
He takes over for James Woods who left after one year at the school.
