George Ray Rudisill, 93, of Blacksburg died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at New River Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Talcott, West Virginia on Feb. 5, 1924 to the late George Kenneth and Sadie Chittum Rudisill.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Rudisill; brothers, Julian Rudisill, Paul Rudisill, Frank Rudisill; sister, Anna R. Hart. He was a veteran of WWII having served under General Patton in the US Army. Ray Retired from RAAP after 21 years of service.
After he retired he owned and operated Rudisill’s Garage with his son Greg. He enjoyed drag racing and camping with his family. He is survived by his wife Patricia C. Rudisill; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Rudisill and friend, Nancy, Frank V. Rudisill and wife, Marie, Greg Rudisill and wife Jennifer; three daughters; grandchildren, Kim, Kay, Christinia, Austin and wife, Gabby, Lora; great-grandchildren, Cody, Allie, Dillon, Drew, Natalie, Levi, Paisley; sisters-in-law, Shirla Ballard, Brenda Hamblin, Carolyn Caldwell; brother-in-law, Gregory Caldwell; Larry Rudisill special nephew and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. James O. Flaugher and Pastor Hiawatha Spraggins officiating.
Graveside services will at 2:30 p.m. in the Fletcher Cemetery, Alderson, West Virginia.
The family received friends Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home.
