GameDay coming to Blacksburg
ESPN has announced that College GameDay will broadcast live from the Virginia Tech campus on Saturday, as No. 13 Virginia Tech will face No. 2 Clemson that evening. The rematch of the 2016 ACC Championship Game will be Clemson first appearance at Lane Stadium since 2011.
ESPN’s trademark college football pregame show will air live at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN, with Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack and Maria Taylor on set.
Concord falls at Notre Dame
The Concord University football team lost to Notre Dame, 44-13, in Mountain East Conference play Saturday afternoon at Mueller Field.
Concord (1-3, 1-3 MEC) scored the game’s first touchdown, but the Falcons (3-1, 3-1 MEC) scored the next 35 points before CU was able to find the end zone again.
The Mountain Lions welcome Shepherd, a top-five ranked team in the nation, to Callaghan Stadium 12:00 p.m. next Saturday.
Blacksburg, Radford golf second in districts
Giles County would take the Three Rivers District golf title this past week with Radford second. Giles shot a 320 and Radford 324. B. Davis finished second overall for the Bobcats with a 76 and Trevor Price third at 76. Both teams advance to this week’s regional tournament.
In River Ridge District play, Blacksburg also finished second with a 294 behind Hidden Valley’s 292. Both team’s advance to regional play but will not have to face each other again. Blacksburg advances to the 4A regionals while Hidden Valley advances to the 3A classification.
