October brings those crisp, sparkling, mind-wandering days that dare you to abandon all electronic devices, cease Netflix bingeing, and step outside into the reality of a New River fall day.
If this sounds tempting, then join the Blacksburg Newcomers on their Fall Field trip to the Hahn Horticulture Garden on the Virginia Tech campus. Water gardens, shade gardens, meadow gardens, and perennial borders dressed in fall colors will please you much more than pinging I-Phones, buzzing Androids, or annoying emails.
So note on your paper calendar with a lead pencil that at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10. Newcomers will meet at Luther Memorial as usual, then, around 9:45 a.m., we will carpool to the garden for a tour and presentation by horticulturist Lisa Lipsey.
If the weather is a bit uncertain, don’t forget your rain gear. We will meet inside for a brief presentation and then a short tour outside.
