The Christiansburg Aquatic Center invites the community to attend a “Pack the CAC” event, which will offer free swim clinics and kids’ activities in partnership with the Virginia Tech Swimming and Diving Intra-Quad meet on Oct. 7.
The Intra-Quad meet, named because the team divides itself into four groups to challenge each other, will start at 8 a.m. Free swim clinics for all ages will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Activities for children and adults will also be offered during the meet to educate the community about swimming and swimming competition.
A poster contest with supplies to make posters to support swimmers and swim teams during the meet. Activity sheets will give people who are new to swimming a greater understanding of swimming techniques, strokes, and events. “For example, if they hear, ‘a 50’, the swimmer will swim one lap; ‘a hundred’, they’ll swim up and back,” Olivia Smith, Program Coordinator at the CAC, said. There will also be a ‘Biggest Splash’ contest.
The Aquatic Center’s competition pool will close Saturday morning for the event and will remain closed until Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The leisure and therapy pools will follow their regular Saturday schedule.
