The following is a list of forecasted highway projects that may impact traffic traveling in the 12-county Salem Transportation District this week.

The Salem District covers Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, and Roanoke.
Interstate 81
I-81 sensor removal at weigh station – Lane closures may be in place on I-81 southbound and northbound at mile markers 147-149 in Botetourt County for the removal of sensors at the weigh stations.
• I-81 northbound, right lane closure, 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following morning, October 6-7
• I-81 southbound, right lane closure, 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following morning, October 7-8
District wide interstate guardrail upgrades– Work is scheduled for guardrail upgrades on I-81 at various locations in Pulaski, Montgomery, Botetourt, and Roanoke Counties. Work is also scheduled for locations on I-581 in Roanoke. Lane or shoulder closures will occur for this work between the hours of 8 PM to 6 AM, Sunday night to Friday morning.
I-81 bridge deck paving operations – Lane closures may be in place during nighttime hours, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., on I-81, northbound and southbound, for paving operations over bridge decks.
• I-81 northbound, left and right lane closures at mile marker 112 to 114, October 2-5
I-81 Northbound New River Bridge replacement In Montgomery County –Lane and shoulder closures maybe in place near exit 105. Lane closure maybe in effect during the week from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Shoulder closures maybe in effect at any time during the week. Speed limit is reduced to 60 miles per hour in the work zone. Estimated completion: December 2020. Shoulder closures will remain in place though the duration of the project.
