I am writing this letter in support for Larry “Nick” Rush and his re-election as Delegate of the 7th District.
Delegate Rush and I first met when he was elected to the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors in 1992. I was serving as the Deputy Assistant County Administrator at the time and got to know him very well until I left this position in 1999.
It was a pleasure working for and with him during this time period. He was the youngest person elected to the position in county history and, being this young, many questioned if he would be able to handle the job. I can attest that he not only handled the job, he excelled in contributing to the board. The other members of the board also saw his dedication and effort on behalf of his constituents and elected him to Chairman and Vice Chairman during his tenure.
Delegate Rush has always been one to ponder each issue before him and to use his knowledge and common sense to come to the best decision. If he didn’t have the full knowledge of the subject, he would go to the people who did to obtain it.
He uses logic and works to come up with the best solution possible for those he serves. As the Boy Scout’s creed states, “he is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave and reverent.”
His past military experience has a lot to do with his confidence and drive. He has been recognized by several organizations within the Commonwealth, along with Delegate Yost, for their efforts on behalf of the residents of Southwest Virginia.
These organizations include the National Federation of Independent Business Virginia PAC, Virginia Farm Bureau Federation AgPAC and the Virginia Realtors PAC.
Therefore, I will be voting for Delegate Rush Tuesday, Nov. 7 because he has represented us in an exemplary manner. I respectfully request that you do too.
