The pets-of-the-week are from the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center. Each Saturday the News Messenger features a dog and cat from the facility available for adoption. Those interested in adopting a pet, or helping the facility, can call 382-5795 or visit www.montgomerycountyva.gov/acac.
Dory, 3, is a very sweet girl. Due to some separation anxiety, she would prefer a stay-at-home mom or dad so that she doesn’t have to be alone or crated for long periods of time. She gets along well with other dogs and doesn’t seem to have an interest in cats. She enjoys exploring trails near the Animal Care and Adoption Center and may make a good hiking or running partner! Dory is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations.Buttercup, 1, came to the Animal Care and Adoption Center in August with her kittens, many of which have already found homes. Buttercup is a beautiful patch tabby with a mellow personality. Lounging on one of the window-mounted cat beds at the center is where you may typically find her. She is spayed, vaccinated and litter box trained.
