On Oct. 24 at Bill Brown Stadium, the Blacksburg High School Senior girls defeated the Junior girls in the school’s annual Powder Puff Football Game.
The bigger cause for this game though was to raise money for Home for the Holidays, a program that helps children all over Blacksburg have food over Holiday Break. Admission was three dollars or a donation of a 6-pack of ramen noodles, a jar of peanut butter, or a box of fruit snacks.
Event Co-Manager, Craig Weaver, stated: “We are proud to have raised over $500 for Home for the Holidays along with countless donations of food. Our community really came out and supported us”.
Sponsors for the event include The Cellar, Highpeak Sportswear, BHS Sports Marketing and BHS Administration. Event Managers were Dawson Racek, Craig Weaver and Sam Sterling, all members of the DE Advanced Sports Management class.
