Radford University senior defender Fraser Colmer has named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men’s Soccer teams as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.
This marks the third consecutive season that Colmer has been named to the academic All-District 3 squad. District 3 is made up of NCAA Division I intuitions from the states of North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
By earning all-district honors, Colmer advances to the national ballot and is eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition, which will be decided at the conclusion of the season. A season ago, Colmer was named a CoSIDA Academic All-America ® first teamer after earning second team honors in 2015.
One of only two Big South players named to the all-district teams, Colmer is a two-time Big South Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well as the 2016-17 Big South Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In the classroom, Colmer owns a 3.99 GPA, majoring in business management.
Over his time in a Radford kit, Colmer has been named an All-Big South performer three times, earning all-tournament honors in 2016. The 2017 Senior CLASS Award Finalist was recently named the Big South’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Colmer also earned NSCAA All-South Region honors in 2016, earning a spot on the third team.
A native of Southampton, England, Colmer started 76 of the 77 games in his career, including 20 in each of his first three seasons. Colmer has accumulated five goals and 22 assists, finishing his career tied for fifth in program history in assists. Serving as a mainstay on the Highlander backline throughout his career, Colmer has helped Radford to 31 clean sheets over his four-year career.
