The Christiansburg Police Department arrested a man in connection with an attempted armed robbery of a restaurant on New Year’s Eve.
Police responded to Long John Silvers on Roanoke Street at approximately 6:10 p.m. after a masked man entered the restaurant, brandished a handgun and demanded money from two employees.
Gary Ray Bishop, 36, of Christiansburg, was arrested a short time later. He was charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery (18.2-26/18.2-58) and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony (18.2-53.1). He is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail.
No one was injured during the incident, and no money was taken from the restaurant. Bishop was taken into custody at his residence without incident.
