Barbara Jean (BJ) Pitt, 88, of Blacksburg died, Tuesday, Jan.9, at Kroontje Health Care Center. She was born in Richmond, VA on June 9, 1929 to the late Frank and Gertrude Rutherford Van Houten.
BJ Graduated from Duke University on June 5, 1950 and married her husband Jack Pitt that afternoon. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack; children, Carol Eggleston, John and Jenwyl Pitt, Betsy Moore, Jim and Cheryl Pitt; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, and 3 sisters.
At her request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Warm Hearth Foundation, 2387 Warm Hearth Drive Blacksburg, VA 24060. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
