Mary Edith Lyons Goad, 89, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at her home in Fairlawn. She was a retired teacher and a longtime member of the Parrott United Methodist Church. Born on July 16, 1928, she was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beulah Lyons; her husband, Lawrence Goad, Sr.; her daughters Mary Sue Goad and Della Poff; sisters, Josephine Jones, and Dorothy Saul.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Howard Nepstad, Jr. of Pearisburg; sons and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Goad Jr. and Carolyn of Hazel, KY, and Roger Goad of Dublin; son-in-law, John Poff, Sr. of Pearisburg; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Joyce Lyons of Dublin; sister, Loretta Langhorn of Christiansburg; brother-in-law Wiley Goad of Parrott; 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Teresa Talbert officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Parrott United Methodist Church. The Goad family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
