Deanna J. Hammer Christensen of Blacksburg, VA died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at Warm Hearth Village. She was 80 years old.
Born April 11, 1937 in Dallas, TX, she spent many years as a Navy wife traveling and raising her children. Until recently she called Newport News her home, but after suffering a stroke, she moved to Blacksburg to be closer to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary (Baeten) Hammer, and brothers Alan Hammer and Jack Hammer.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Christensen of La Grange, KY and Angela Christensen of Blacksburg, VA, sister Kathy (Hammer) Reese of Elliston, VA and brother David Hammer of Livingston, TX.
The family will receive friends today, Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 from 1:30 – 2 p.m. at Bridge Foursquare Church, 890 Life Dr, Christiansburg, VA 24073 with funeral services beginning at 2:00. Burial will be at Belmont Church Cemetery in Christiansburg following the service. The family is being served by McCoy Funeral Home of Blacksburg, VA.
