Rodney Teel Shelburne, 75, of Snowville, passed away on Thursday, Jan.18, 2018. Rodney was born on October 1, 1942 in Snowville, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Josiah and Edna Ridpath Shelburne, as well as brothers-in-law, C. Duane Dishon and Clyde Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Nancy Morris Shelburne; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Ron Landreth of Radford, son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Terri Shelburne of Snowville, and daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Shannon Angle of Snowville; seven grandchildren, Jake, Jessica and Jenna Shelburne, Lauren and Brad Landreth, and Hunter and Granger Angle. He is also survived by his sister, Maxine Dishon of Pulaski as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Lee Carroll, Ruth and Hassell Boothe, Judy and Joe Wade, and Edith and Theodore Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rodney was born in and lived his entire life in Snowville. He was a life-long beef cattle farmer, running the family farm and was extremely proud to call Snowville his home. He was involved in several community organizations, being a life-long member of Snowville Baptist Church as well as a charter member of Snowville Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, he was past president and long-term director of Pulaski and Giles Mutual Insurance Company. Above all, his family was his pride and joy and he enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons with them and watching the Redskins.
Flowers are appreciated; however, memorial donations may be made to the Snowville Baptist Church or Snowville Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 22, 2018 at Snowville Baptist Church with Rev. Neil Wood officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.
The family received friends on Sunday at the funeral home.
The Shelburne family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford, Virginia.
