Last week I saw that a Virginia House of Delegates subcommittee voted down a bill to ban bump stocks.
Bump stocks are stocks on guns that allow guns to fire large amounts of rounds in a short amount of time.
This is the type of weapon was used in the Las Vegas shooting last fall, killing 58 people who were attending a concert.
It is hard to reason why the subcommittee turned the bill down. Anything that is done to help the gun violence situation is a plus, and a vote to support this bill is a double plus.
I feel that it is unfortunate that politicians in the country, and for that matter this state, don’t feel it is the right to support everything they can to control the terrible gun violence situation.
I once heard a politician tell me “I vote for votes,” I think that is an unfortunate way to represent the citizens.
As a member of the Christiansburg Town Council, I think about it all the time, and vote the way I can live with myself.
