James F. Boone, 102, of Blacksburg died, Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at his home. He was born in Holland, VA on July 25, 1915 to the late Howard Sion and Ruby Holland Boone.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Martha Joyner Boone; a daughter, Janice Boone Hart; great-grandson, Caupert Hart Pattishall; son-in-law, Rex Hart; a sister, Elizabeth Knight. Mr. Boone graduated from Virginia Tech in 1937 and retired as Treasurer of Virginia Tech after 30 years. He was longtime member of Blacksburg Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Don Pumphrey; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Beverly Boone; grandchildren, Lee Anne, Karen, Terri, Lloyd, Robin, Geoffrey, Tiffany, Paul, Brittany, Forrest, Shannon; sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Tommy McDearis and Rev. Todd Millsaps officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr S.W. Blacksburg, VA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
