United Way of the New River Valley hosted their 7th annual formal fundraiser, Valentines in Vegas, on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the German Club Manor in Blacksburg.
This year’s event raised $19,805, almost $3,000 over the projected goal and $6,000 over last year. All funds raised will benefit the United Way’s local human and health building efforts in the community and their 25 local partner agencies.
The fundraiser this year featured casino games including Blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em, some very lively slot machines, and a fabulous Craps table.
Guests loved the local jazz band, The Jamtastics, who performed live during the evening. This year’s guests also enjoyed an elegant dinner buffet complete with a beef tenderloin carving station, cash bars, and a Magic Mirror selfie photo booth.
The silent auction and prizes featured donated items and gift certificates from local businesses, and included passes to Disney World, Dollywood and Floyd Fest, a 14.5ft Dagger Stratos Kayak, a Family Fun Basket, a Nintendo Switch, and much more! The lucky winners at the end of the night took home 27 prize packs and 23 silent auction baskets, a combined value of over $19,000.
United Way’s Jackpot sponsors include: Pinnacle Financial Partners, Cumulus Media and Real Life Dental. Additionally, we are grateful for Ace Sponsors; AesirTech, First Piedmont Waste Solutions, HHHunt/Foxridge, National Bank of Blacksburg, Green-Eyed Designs, Campus Automotive/Macco, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, and Old Town Printing.
