Kathy Shelor Bennet, 67, of Blacksburg, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at her home.
Born in Montgomery County, VA on Aug. 20, 1950, she was preceded in death by her father, Kelly Black Shelor, father and mother-in-law, Lewis Bennett Sr. and Dorothy Bennett. Kathy was a member of Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, and making cakes. She helped everyone who needed help and always put everyone else before herself. She worked with church ministries and activities at Warm Hearth, and was very active with the Montgomery County Coal Miners Association.
Kathy was a loving wife and wonderful mother. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the moon and back. She will be missed greatly by everyone.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Lewis H. Bennett, Jr.; her daughter, Valerie Twiggs, her son, Christopher Bennett; four grandchildren, Bridget Shelton, Savannah Agosti, Jordan Agosti, and Benjamin Twiggs; three great-grandchildren, Abigail Rust, Kane Rust, and Kolten Taylor; her mother, Thelma Jones Shelor; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Leah R. and Jessie Tate, Crystal N. and Erik Eckberg; three brothers and sisters-in-law, K. Rex and Doris Shelor, Dwight “Dickie” and Phyllis Shelor, Mickey “Gene” and Mary Shelor; three aunts, Diana Jones, Maggie Jones, Bonnie Linkous, numerous nieces and nephews; and her Godson, John-Lee Dillon Payne.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at 1:30 pm in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Richard Hall and Chaplain Jessie Tate officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family received friends Tuesday, evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
