Neil Simon’s stage play, “The Odd Couple,” will be performed by the Christiansburg High School Drama Department on Thursday through Sunday at CHS.
Students will perform both the male and female versions of this iconic play. The original script featured two males, Oscar and Felix, in the lead roles.
In 1985, Simon modernized the script for female lead roles of Olive and Florence. Hilariously watch as two friends try sharing an apartment when their ideas of housekeeping and lifestyles are as different as night and day.
The female version will be performed Thursday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
The male version will be staged at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
April is busy for the CHS Drama students as they perform the senior-directed One Act plays at the Downtown Christiansburg Wine and Artisan Festival.
Downtown Christiansburg Inc. will be offering its annual celebration of local art, artisans, wine, food, music and drama on and around Main Street.
The event will feature local artists like CHS drama students, authors, jewelry designers, graphic artists, and other vendors selling handcrafted items.
The CHS Drama Department is not finished when the school year ends, either. The CHS students will be offering two drama camps to local youngsters in grades 3-9.
Campers will take part in exciting drama workshops like acting, improvisation, theatre games, singing, dancing, stagecraft, costuming, stage management and lighting.
Each week of camp will culminate in a full-scale performance open to family and friends. The week of June 18-21 will feature Kid Frankenstein while June 25-28 will study Jack & the Beanstalk. Registration is now open.
