Mary Annette Faust Price, of Newport, born August 5, 1934 in Kingsport, TN., passed peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, April 3 at the home of her daughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Price, of Newport, and her parents, Dalton and Mary Faust, of Kingsport, TN.
Annette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and Cory Price, of Christiansburg, Va.; her daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Brian Rader, of Blacksburg, Va.; her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Nell Faust of Kingsport, TN.; her sister-in-law, Edith P. Sloop, of Blacksburg; and her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Rader and Lauren Phillips, Hannah and Matthew Borny, Holly Rader, Noah Rader, Isabelle Price, Rowan Price, and Wyatt Price. There are also numerous nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond.
Annette graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in Music Education. She had a career for many years as a public school music teacher. She met the love of her life, Jim Price, through Norman Vincent Peale’s Guidepost magazine computer dating service. They were married on July 15, 1967.
During her long life in Newport, Va., she was actively involved in the music ministry of Newport Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. She played the piano and organ, directed the church and community choirs, and played for many weddings and funerals over the years.
Annette also had a long career at Newport Elementary School and later at Eastern Elementary teaching private piano lessons to children. She loved her work and enjoyed passing on her knowledge of music to others. She touched many lives over the years with her faith, her sunny outlook, and her sense of humor.
Funeral Services were held Friday, April 6, 2018 at 4:00 pm in the Newport Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Morris Fleischer officiating. Interment followed in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley, Blacksburg. The family received friends prior to service at the church. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
