The Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, built in Blacksburg in 1883, is shown in this 1926 image. The congregation was established by St. Michael’s/St. Peter’s Lutheran Church to serve students in the Corps of Cadets. This building stood on Turner Street, where McDonald’s now stands. It was demolished in the 1970s, but some of its bricks were used on the interior of the current church on Prices Fork Road. (This photo is from the D. D. Lester Collection. This image and many more are available from the Montgomery Museum & Lewis Miller Regional Art Center.)
