Bruce Bentley, computer technician, was named Montgomery County Public Schools Support Staff Employee of the Year. Bentley has worked in MCPS for 13 years.
He was nominated for his initiative in managing almost 10,000 Chromebooks in the division – setting them up, delivering to schools, completing repairs, maintaining inventory, and preparing every device for its user – are just a few of the tasks that take up his time.
“Bruce supports the education of our students by ensuring that their learning devices are well-maintained and functioning normally,” said Harvey Goodwin, director of technology. “He understands that our students and teachers depend on their Chromebooks for instruction and strives to be quick in both initial delivery and repair.”
“Bruce makes a difference for every student and every teacher in our district,” said Julie Craft, supervisor of instructional technology. “He works hard and is dependable, always putting students’ needs first.”
The Support Staff Employee of the Year is selected at the end of one school year and serves as the Support Staff Employee of the Year for the following school year, to mirror the process for the Teacher of the Year.
Bentley is the Support Staff Employee of the Year for 2018-19.
