Mount Tabor Ruritan Club will hold its June Fish Fry from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at Slusser’s Chapel Picnic Shelter (1543 Mount Tabor Roadd, Blacksburg).
Rain or shine, it’s an all-you-can-eat fish, fries, slaw, homemade desserts and beverages. There will be music by The Happy Hollow Stringband.
A Blacksburg tradition, the first Fish Fry was June 26, 1971.
Adults and carryout$8; Children under 12, $4; under 3, free.
“This month, we will be collecting school supplies and personal hygiene products for the over 300 homeless school students in the NRV, as part of a national Ruritan summer project,” Gavin Faulkner, Mt. Tabor Ruritan public relations chairman, wrote in an announcement.
To help, bring pens, pencils, spiral notebooks, erasers, calculators, glue sticks, zippered binders, and similar, as well as full-size personal hygiene items such as towels, washcloths, soap, shampoo, deodorants, combs, nail clippers and files, shaving cream, toothbrushes and toothpaste, acne products, etc.
“Local school systems will help us distribute these supplies and we are grateful for any donations you might provide,” Faulkner wrote
