Executive Director Sarah Hanks of the Children’s Museum of Blacksburg announced the museum’s new name and logo—effective upon its opening in the New River Valley Mall later this year—at the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Business after hours event.

The Children’s Museum of Blacksburg has a new name and a new logo that will be used once it moves to the New River Valley mall later this year.

The event was co-sponsored by Freedom First Credit Union.

Upon its official opening in the New River Valley Mall, the museum will be known as Wonder Universe: A Children’s Museum.

CMB announced its relocation plans in April, during its annual Power of Play luncheon. The Chamber Business After Hours event was hosted in the New River Valley Mall, where Charlotte Russe was previously located; that store, along with the food court, will become the museum’s new home this fall.

“We’re especially grateful to our co-sponsor, Freedom First Credit Union, for making this event and reveal possible, and to our marketing and design partners, Blue Mobius Marketing and Joba Design, for their talent and dedication to our cause,” Hanks said. “This event marks an important milestone in our journey of reimagining play and cultivating a museum that equips and empowers kids and families to enjoy the benefits of playful learning.”

Blue Mobius Marketing, Joba Design, and the CMB Board of Directors facilitated rounds of research, brand discovery, brainstorming, and community feedback before the board’s final vote.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed partnering with the Children’s Museum and Joba Design on this project that has a widespread impact on our local region,” said Blue Mobius Marketing Founder & CEO, Caitlyn Scaggs. “Engaging with members of the community to gather feedback and suggestions for the name, logo, and brand was pivotal in making a museum that truly represents our community.”
