RU men tabbed second
Results of the 2018 Big South Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll are in and they bode well for Radford University this fall. The Highlanders were picked to finish second in the nine-team conference standings while redshirt senior forward Kieran Roberts was voted Co-Attacking Player of the Year.
Coming off a 10-4-4 campaign that culminated in an unfortunate exit from the Big South Championships following a semifinal loss in 2017, the Highlanders expect to reach new heights this time around.
In its second season under head coach Bryheem Hancock, Radford returns six players who started 10 or more games a season ago, including all-conference performers Kieran Roberts, Victor Valls and Max Edwards.
Roberts was a favorite to garner preseason Attacking Player of the Year honors following a stellar 2017 season that saw him score a conference-leading 15 goals, tying him for fourth in the nation. The Bournemouth, England native led the country with 5.44 shots per game and 2.83 shots on goal per game while also ranking 10th in the nation for points (31) and points per game (1.72).
