Free western square dance lesson with the New River Squares

Come enjoy an Open House and free Western square dance lesson offered by the New River Squares at 7 p.m. on Aug. 27 at Memorial Baptist Church ( 995 Peppers Ferry Rd. Pulaski, 24301). Try this great fun exercise for free at the Square Dance Open House, then sign up for the series of Monday evening classes (6:30- 7:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 10 at the church). The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Support Group

The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Support Group for the New River Valley will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 11, in the New River Room (on the main level) of the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Potter in the Park Run/Walk, costumes and quidditch

Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley is hosting its Potter in the Park event on Sept. 1, the first day of Hogwarts. The run or walk Triwizard Tri-Mile Trail Race begins at 9 ¾ o’clock (9:45 a.m.) at Nellie’s Cave Park in Blacksburg.
The event will feature a costume contest, quidditch demonstrations, “house” prizes, and other fun for muggles and wizards alike. Register by today, Aug. 15, and receive a free T-shirt.
