RADFORD—Sunday at approximately 1 a.m., Radford City Police responded to the 1200 block of Lawrence St. in reference to a fight in progress.
Upon arrival, police units found a white male who had been knocked unconscious.
The male victim was transported to the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. The victim was then transferred to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.
A Snapchat video accompanying the city’s news release appears to show at least one other person being attacked in the video. The second victim seems to be trying to protect the other victim who is unconscious on the ground.
Multiple onlookers can be seen in the video as the unconscious man is assaulted repeatedly even after he is motionless on the ground.
A female voice can be heard in the video saying, “Stop. Stop. Chill,” which is ignored by the attackers.
Many onlookers can be heard egging the situation on as the phrase, “you got knocked the [expletive] out” can be heard multiple times in the 29-second video.
Witnesses describe the offenders as 3-4 black males, and one white male.
Radford City Police is asking for help in identifying suspects and witnesses to this incident.
