Susan Eleanor Ogier, 66, of Salem, passed away Saturday, Aug.18, 2018. She was born in Allentown, PA on October 2, 1951 to the late Frederick and Eleanor Harwick Steiner. She attended Kutztown University as was an Itinerant Teacher of the visually handicapped in Delaware County PA.
After moving to Saratoga Springs, NY, she became a potter, then moved to Salem VA where she began teaching kindergarten at G W Carver Elementary School, retiring in 2016 after 19 years.
She was an incredible mother to her children, loving and devoted wife, best friend to her Ladybug Sisters, and a caring guide and cheerleader for every student that came through her classroom. Her beautiful giving heart will beat on in her husband, Dr. James (Jim) Ogier; three daughters and son-in-law, Andrea Ogier and Jeff Pedersen, Luisa Ogier, and Erika Ogier; her grandson, Anders Ogier Pedersen; her sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Brent Clark; her brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Barbara Steiner; and her faithful canine companion, Max.
A memorial service will be held Sunday Sept. 9, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robin Ferree officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
