How many times have you heard parents and students state that college is too expensive?
In some cases that is a true statement. College fees are high and are getting higher each school year. Public, state-run colleges are around $20,000 a year and private schools can be $40,000 or more.
That is what makes the ACCE (Access to Community College Education) so exciting.
New River Community College (NRCC) and schools in Giles, Floyd, Radford and Montgomery County have developed a public/private partnership making college affordable for everyone.
For the last several years, the ACCE program has provided free tuition to students to attend NRCC.
What an opportunity for students to attend college for two years debt free. No loans, no financial headache.
Students do need to meet certain requirements and achieve at least a 2.5 grade point average while in high school.
ACCE requirements can be easily explained by counselors who are available in each high school.
Additionally, Angie Covey and Erika Tolbert at NRCC are also available (540- 674-3618) to help processing registration applications this fall.
This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn, save on tuition and establish a career field.
You will see me at the graduations!
