Ida Mae Young Morris, 94, of Fairlawn, departed this world to be with her heavenly father on Oct. 10, 2018. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Ida enjoyed planting and tending her garden. The fruits of her labor were distributed in abundance to neighbors and family members. She was proud of the many flowers she grew in the yard, she so meticulously mowed for as long as she was able. She drew freehand drawings during the winter months. Recently, she entertained her caregivers at The Cove during her nocturnal visits with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carlos E. Morris, her parents, Murphy and Beatrice Young, brothers, Rawley, Avis, and John Young, sisters Clara Isabel Brandt, and Loretta Kimmel; son-in-law, H. R. “Snapper” Hartwell. Ida is survived by daughters, Bonnie (Arnold) Sutphin, Christiansburg, VA, Karen Hartwell, Christiansburg, VA, and Kathy (Claude) Kelly, Kingsport, TN; granddaughter, Julia (David) Shepherd, Matthews, NC; grandson, H.R. “Beau” (Lindsey) Hartwell III, Murfreesboro, TN; four great grandchildren, Brayden and Parker Shepherd and Katelyn and Autumn Hartwell; brother-in-law, Arnold Mitchem.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Kroontje Health Care Center for the loving care given to Ida as well as the Amedisys Hospice. Funeral Services will be conducted today, Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Collins officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr SW, Blacksburg, VA.
