Harvey Jackson (Jack) Snider died on Oct. 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born Dec. 12, 1927 to the late Harvey Jackson and Ressie Price Snider. He was preceded in death by his sisters Nettie Snider, Edith Long, Carrie Surface and Julia Louderback; Brothers J. Ivan Snider, John Snider and Robert Snider.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanette; four daughters, Terry Combs and husband, Ed of Sebring, Florida, Deonna Donohue and husband, Paul of Summerfield, NC, Arlene Snider of Blacksburg, VA, Anne Falls of Blacksburg, VA; three grandsons, Michael Snider and wife, Stacy of Portland, Oregon, Austin Donohue of Brooklyn, NY, and Francis Donohue and wife, Ali; great grandchildren, Rowan and Molly Donohue all of Asheville NC; as well as numerous extended family members.
Jack, a lifelong resident of Blacksburg developed, owned and operated H. J. Snider Excavating and Contract Hauling from 1960 until his retirement in 2002 and was known for his excellent work and integrity.
He was proud of his family and supported them in all areas including being a great “horse show Dad.”
Friends were invited to join the family at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr SW, Blacksburg, VA on Thursday, November 1, 2018 with a graveside service following at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg, VA.
