The Wilderness Road Chorus will regale visitors with barbershop-style, a capella harmony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15.
“Tis the season! Stop by the Christiansburg Library,” Salena Sullivan, Christiansburg library branch supervisor, wrote in an announcement of the event.
The Chorus is a community organization of women singers dedicated to music education, quality musical performance, and promotion of unity and fellowship for the advancement and enjoyment of the art form of four-part a cappella singing known as barbershop harmony.
Jo Burroughs, chorus membership chair who has been with the group since 1989, welcomes all women over 16 to join in.
“If you like to sing and have a good time singing, you don’t even have to read music. We teach all that,” she said. “All you need to bring is the joy of singing.
“Our director is an expert vocal coach and the more voices we have, the better the sound is.”
Visit the chorus at rehearsal on Mondays at 7 p.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church (600 Price’s Fork Road) at the corner of Price’s Fork and Tom’s Creek in Blacksburg.
