Jananie Arlease Roberts, 94, born May 29, 1924, died faithfully as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Nov. 4, 2018.
She is preceded in death by her parents Owen Henry Price and Mary George Briggs Price; Her brothers Albert (Genevieve) Price, Roscoe (Geneva) Price; and Willard Price; Her daughters Patricia Jean Roberts and Lesa Sharon Roberts.
She is survived by her four remaining children, Betty R. Price of Christiansburg VA, Larry (Carlon) Roberts of Decatur GA, Janette (James) Pope of Harvest AL, Regina (Johnny) Spinner of Lynchburg VA; nine Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; and a host of special nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
Arlease was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend. Her demeanor was kind, loving and patient. She always made each person feel that they were special in their own way, because they were important to her. These qualities were inculcated in her and her three brothers by their parents and shaped the woman that she became. She was born and raised in Alleghany Springs and later lived in Floyd County. Her elementary education went to the 6th grade, but her quest for learning led her to get her GED when she was 53 years old.
She raised six children, five girls and one boy. She was employed as a housekeeper, for several people in the community and was known for her flawless work ethic, which she instilled in her children. Her varied interests included a love of music, especially the blues and Kingdom Melodies. This love of music even prompted her to take piano lessons. She treasured her family heritage and enjoyed writing about it and sharing it with her loved ones. She was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about her Heavenly Father Jehovah and His promises for all of mankind. What she learned gave her hope for the future and gave her a comforting strength. She shared this hope with others, so that they could be encouraged also. We look forward to seeing her again in God’s promised new world. She will be in perfect health, with a beautiful smile, and when she sees us, she will say “Hello Darling, what’s going on?”
