During 2018, I wrote several letters concerning gun control and gun violence. I don’t recall receiving many replies. I did hear from a lady I taught school with for 30 years.
She wasn’t happy with my position and told me I was becoming “a damn Democrat, and not caring about the 2nd amendment rights of people.”
Well, I don’t consider myself a Republican or Democrat. I am just speaking as an American who would like to see legislation concerning guns. For 2019, I would like to see laws passed in three areas:
1. Increase mental health funding throughout the Commonwealth.
2. Not to sell guns to minors, and individuals with criminal, psychiatric or drug problems.
3. Not to allow assault weapons to be sold or displayed in the State of Virginia.
I don’t see how anyone could object to these proposals. We need to encourage state legislators that this is what the people of Virginia want, and 2019 is the year to do it.
Concerning assault weapons, people in Virginia don’t need to have weapons designated for combat in their closets.
